Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She founded The Huffington Post and the CEO of Thrive Global. Author of over 15 books. Arianna Huffington is an author TV personality, philanthropist, and TV host and also the proprietor and editor of The Huffington Post. She emigrated out of Greece to England at the age of 16 and earned an MA in Economics from Cambridge University in Economics. When she was 21, she became the president of the renowned debate society The Cambridge Union' and was the first non-native student in the history of Cambridge University to be elected. Her success as a conservative journalist was further consolidated when she completed her studies. After the launch of The Huffington Post a few months later, she launched an online voice portal that offered critiques of the state of the nation's politics. She was able to get many prominent contributors to share their thoughts about politics and culture. Arianna gained fame after she made the decision in 2003 to become an Independent Candidate in the California Recall Election in order to succeed the former governor Davis. Aside from that, Arianna was also the leader of the Detroit initiative that promoted fuel efficient vehicles. Forbes listed her as one of one of the "most powerful women" in the media industry with her ranking at the 12th spot. Guardian placed her on their list of 100 most important media figures in 2009. AOL purchased The Huffington Post from AOL in 2011. She was then made the president of the media division at AOL. The group included several AOL-owned properties, such as Engadget AOL Style List and Patch Media. She was the daughter of journalist and manager Konstantinos as well as his spouse Elli Stasinopoulos. While she was very close with her father, it was her relationship with her mother that formed her life. From her early years, she displayed leadership qualities that are still highly regarded. At the age of sixteen, she left America to the United Kingdom and enrolled Girton College Cambridge. She was a member of Cambridge Union, the Cambridge Union college debate society while in college, where she was the third and first female to hold the position of the president. Her graduation was in 1972 and she earned the degree of Master's in Economics. In the years following the graduation ceremony, she became a critic columnist and television host. Her appearance in Face the music with Bernard Levin was also noteworthy. She started writing books and enlisting his assistance for editing.
