Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She co-founded The Huffington Post the founder and CEO of Thrive Global and the author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington is a writer TV personality, philanthropist, and the owner of the independent free online news publication The Huffington Post. Born in Greece Arianna Huffington immigrated to England with her family at age 16. At Cambridge University she earned a MA qualification in Economics. As the first non-English speaking student to graduate, she was elected president of The Cambridge Union' at the age of 21. As a conservative syndicated blogger when she graduated, she became a voice of the Huffington Post. Arianna was able to attract numerous prominent contributors to post their views regarding politics and culture. Arianna gained fame after she decided to become an Independent candidate for the California Recall election to succeed former Governor Davis. Aside from that, Arianna was also the leader of a Detroit initiative that promoted fuel efficient automobiles. Forbes declared her to be one of the "most powerful woman" in media, placing her at 12th. Guardian placed her on their list of 100 most influential media people in 2009. AOL acquired The Huffington Post from AOL in 2011. In 2012, she became the president of AOL's media group. The group included several AOL-owned properties, such as Engadget AOL Style List and Patch Media. Her parents were Elli and Konstantinos Stasinopoulos who was who was a consultant in management as well as a journalist. She was very close with her father. But it was the relationship she had with her mother who has shaped her. At an early age, she displayed leadership qualities that remain highly respected. When she moved to England, she was 16, to pursue her education and was accepted into Girton College Cambridge. She enrolled in Cambridge Union, the Cambridge Union college debate society during her time at college, where she was the third and first female to be elected president. She graduated in 1972 with an MA in Economics. After her graduation, she was a columnist-critic as well as a TV host. Additionally, she starred alongside Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started making books with the editorial services of Bernard Levin.
