Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19, 1946, in Locust Ridge Tenn. to 12 children from a poor family kids who would grow with them eventually. She learned young how to overcome of her difficulties with her incredibly vibrant imagination. Before she could write or read and compose her own music. Within 8 years she had her very first guitar. At age 11 when she was 11, she began singing on Knoxville Tenn's radio station. Gold Band Records is a tiny, independent label. In high school she established herself in the school community but her ambition was bigger. In the exact day that she graduated high school, in 1964. Her first charting records with Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated TV show host in the late '60s, was looking for a female singer for his program. Parton accepted the job in 1967 signed with RCA Records in 1968 and became a member of the Grand Ole Opry in 1969. Parton quit the Wagoner's band in 1974, when her solo hits such as Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene beat out the collaborations. The song by Parton, I Will Never Be Loved by You (for Wagoner), reached the top of the. #1 spot following their separated. #1 for the first time in 1974.
